Composer James Horner Dies in Plane Crash
James Horner, one of the most veterans and renowned composers in Hollywood, died Monday in a plane crash near Santa Barbara at age 61.
Horner has scored some of the most popular movies of the last decades with a resumé that includes titles such as Aliens, Apollo 13, Braveheart, Titanic or Avatar. His working relationship with director James Cameron was close and they were to collaborate again in the announced Avatar sequels.
The composer has been nominated for an Oscar ten times and won two academy awards for Titanic.
His death has been confirmed by Sylvia Patrycja, Horner´s assistant via a message on Facebook:
"A great tragedy has struck my family today, and I will not be around for a while. I would like some privacy and time to heal. We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart, and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road."
We send our condolences to his family and friends in this moment of grief. We´ve lost one of the greatest talents in the film industry today.
