ABC Cancels "V" and "Brothers & Sisters"

  This is definitely a sad day for TV fans as two of the most beloved shows of recent times have failed to make it past their current seasons. 

 In an unpredictable move that very few saw coming (even though both shows were on the bubble), TVLine reports that ABC has decided to pull the plug on Brothers And Sisters and sci-fi favourite "V". 

 Over the last few days, rumours started swirling around that ABC was planning to bring back Brothers & Sisters for a short farewell season which would include some budget cuts. However, this does not seem to be  the plan anymore.

 With "V", the story is somehow different. Even though the fan dedication has been outstanding, the ratings never really took off although this season saw the return of veteran actress Jane Badler and an vast improvement on its storylines.

"V" Producer Teases Season 3 Possibilities

 Scott Rosenbaum, executive producer of "V", appeared recently at San Francisco´s Wonder Con 2011, and gave an update to Assignment X on where the show stands regarding its renewal on ABC.

“We do not know about a third season at this point” he admitted.

 However, Rosenbaum is hopeful that the show gets renewed and is already planning possible storylines to develop if he gets the chance on season 3.

He revealed:

“I am most excited about it more than I have ever been, because [V] has gotten to a place at the end of this season, the closest to what I wanted it to be.

 Now we have a situation where you have a realistic human resistance that actually has a possible shot of defeating the Visitors. Whereas before it was a motley crew of four or five with a priest, an FBI agent. It was sort of like the rebels in Libya fighting – they are never going to win. The only way they have a chance is with an organized military complex behind them. I like that. That is very exciting to me. Now we can see them make a real dent in Anna’s plans.”

 The producer indeed revealed that his plans for "V" were much more in the line of the developments shown in the last episodes of the season rather than what he was told to write for the show previously.

 “The pacing of the shows will be very much like that last episode, they all will be peddle to the metal and tons of story and excitement. That’s more the style that I prefer as a writer and I was actually pulled back to a style that I was uncomfortable with. My voice as a writer is much more like that last episode than the ones you saw before because I was asked to slow things down. I didn’t believe that was the way to go but I did the best I could. I can’t wait, I’m excited about [a potential Season 3].”
 Rosenbaum feels confident that "V" has a shot at coming back next season and is looking forward to explore the evolution of the storylines:

“I pushed the characters to a place emotionally where I am excited about it. Erica is going to find out her son was murdered and what that’s going to do to her will be fascinating to watch. Other characters have died, the stakes are high, Anna knows she’s almost been betrayed, Anna’s real daughter is locked in a dungeon, Anna knows there is a real chance that other Vs may revolt as well and so her timeline is shrinking so she had to move faster and quicker for her plans to work.

 Now that we have seen the Visitors we can see a lot more of them. There is a whole bit of mythology about the second part of their plan that we could get into. That I don’t want to give all away because that will be fun to watch.”

Marc Singer returns to 'V'

 If you are over 30 years old or simply an 80's fan, you will probably remember hit series 'V' where actor Marc Singer played the character of Mike Donovan. Almost three decades later, ABC's reboot of the show has signed Singer to appear on the second season finale. The actor will play Lars Tremont, a member of a secret organisation called The Aries Project. The group, made up of politicians and military leaders, is said to be concerned that the Visitors are not looking for peace on Earth.

 Singer is the second original castmember to join the new series after Jane Badler agreed to appear throughout season two as Diana.

New "V" promo... with Jane Badler!

  A new promo for the second season of "V" has surfaced and it looks AMAZING! Fans of the original will be pleased, as it features Jane Badler's first appearance as Anna's mother, Diana. Jane Badler who played Diana in the original mini series, was signed on to appear only on 4 episodes at first, but will finally appear on all 10 episodes of the second season. Jane Badler joins the remake of ‘V’

  Remember that cult tv show in the 80's about alien lizards invading the Earth? That show, of course, was "V", a big hit which aired on NBC in 1983. Well, a certain lizard is back in town in the new updated ABC version of the series and fans of the original could not be happier. Jane Badler who played lizard leader Diana on NBC's original V from 1983-85, is back as an all new version of Diana on ABC's take on the show. She will play  Anna's mother, Diana, who has been imprisoned on the mothership in a cell  for years.

  "This Diana will, of course, be very different from the old Diana as it has been a long time," she explains. "I am no longer the young woman who first did V. I am older and wiser and have had many life experiences. Hopefully I will bring all that to the role."

  Even though she has always been a fan favourite, Badler explained to TV Guide that her role was not certain and she had to fight for it as any other actress would. "From the moment I heard V was coming back, it was something I was hoping to be part of, but they tested a lot of people for this role," she said. "A lot of years have passed, so it feels good to win something."

  Badler will first appear on the second season premiere this coming November. According to reports, the show will be more more action-packed this season and will explore more the alien mythology.

  This is for sure the best casting choice they could go for, not only Jane is a terrific under-worked actress with amazing on screen presence, she is also a science-fiction symbol to many fans who saw the original. If they back this up with great writing and storytelling, this new season could be huge.
