Chad Michael Murray Returns to "One Tree Hill"

One Tree Hill fans can rejoice now as former star of the show, Chad Michael Murray, has closed a deal with The CW to play Lucas Scott one last time.

Chad left One Tree Hill three years ago, at the end of season six alongside his onscreen bride Hilarie Burton (Peyton). According to The CW, Lucas returns to Tree Hill after Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) reaches out to him for help.

There is no word yet on whether Hilarie Burton will also reprise her role for the last season of the series.

However, other former castmembers such as Paul Johansson (Dan) and Barbara Alyn Woods (Deb) have agreed to come back as well.

Are you happy that Lucas is returning to Tree Hill?

Hilarie Burton & Chad Michael Murray Not Returning To 'One Tree Hill'

Its official, One Tree Hill former stars, Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton won´t be making an appearance on the show this season.

Series creator Mark Schwann has confirmed the news to TV Line:

“It’s not going to happen. We won’t be seeing them this year. Quite frankly, we just couldn’t make a deal. Hilarie now has a child and a family, and she’s doing some nice work. Chad was working on a movie (The Haunting In Georgia) down in Louisiana, and there were dates we were trying to work around, but it’s tricky when you try to line up all those stars sometimes.”

Schwann admitted his dissapointment over the news but assured that both stars were willing to make an appearance on the show if their busy schedules made it possible.

“Everybody had the best intentions. But at the end of the day, it just didn’t work out."

News that the show was negotiating a return with Burton and Murray ,who both left at the end of season six, first appeared towards the time the character of Brooke (Sophia Bush) was getting married on the show.

Schwann states that it was his wish to have reached an agreement for it to happen back then:

"Creatively, I would have loved to have them,or even at the end of the season. But unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.”

It is yet unclear whether this will be One Tree Hill´s farewell season but actor Austin Nichols has confirmed to TV Guide that if that´s the case then fans will be satisfied with how the stories are wrapped.

"If it [is] in fact a series finale, it will be very satisfying," he explains. "[But] I know that there are seeds planted if there's going to be another season. Everybody feels lucky to be a part of something that's been on so long, so we'll see."

Are you sad to learn that Peyton and Lucas won´t be returning to Tree Hill?

Will Hilarie Burton and Chad Michael Murray return to "One Tree Hill"?

According to show creator, Mark Schwann, it is definitely something he would really like to see happen. He told Zap2it that "Brooke's wedding would be a really organic, kind of poignant way to bring Peyton and Lucas back. It's my hope that we'll see them at the wedding. I'm a fan of that."

Not only is Schwann keen for it to happen, but show star Sophia Bush agrees that it would make all the sense in the world considering this might be Tree Hill's swang song. She says, "As we're winding down and figuring out how to end something that's meant so much to so many people, for me, a lot comes down to the friendship between Brooke and Peyton. I'd like to see it again. I love working with Hilarie."

No word yet on what Chad Michael Murray thinks about this reunion, but what does Hilarie Burton have to say? "I'll be perfectly honest with you. I haven't been asked," she says. "But if they wanted me, I love Wilmington and I love 'One Tree Hill.' I always will. The ball's not in my court." Burton assures that " 'One Tree Hill' gave me my start, and I'm very grateful for the years that I had there and the relationships that I formed there. It's six years with a small group of people. I love seeing them. Going there is always going home."

Are you reading this Mark Schwann? Please, make it happen! It would be amazing to see all these characters who fans have followed for eight years, reunited together again one last time before the show ends. What do you think?
