"Grey´s Anatomy" Cast Inks Two-Year Deals

 It´s finally official!

Season 8 of Grey´s Anatomy is coming to an end and, with most of the cast contracts up this year,  not even creator Shonda Rhimes was sure of who was coming back to the show next fall.

According to Deadline, among the the members of the original cast that will return for two more years are Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson.

Early this year showrunner Shonda Rhimes explained how writing the end of the season was harder this time around:

“[It] was the most complex puzzle I’ve had to put together — ever,” she shared. ”We have all these moveable pieces of who’s coming back and who’s not, and finally I just decided to focus on what was going to be best creatively [and] make it work regardless of what is happening [off screen].”

Thoughts? Do you think the show could have gone on without them?

Ellen Pompeo Ready for More "Grey´s Anatomy"

As many of us know by now, this year Grey´s Anatomy may suffer some drastic changes as most of its original cast contracts will be up by the end of the season.

After last year´s remarks about leaving the show once her contract was up, now Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) has stated to TV Guide magazine that she is pretty much open to negotiation in order to come back again next season.

"I was invited for eight years — that was my contract — and no one has asked me for a day more. I know [creator] Shonda Rhimes has said the show will continue, but I wouldn't presume that they want to continue with me. You don't get dressed for the party if you don't have an invitation."

Pompeo seems optimistic about  discussing it and does not rule out staying with the show, specially for the fans:

"I would love the opportunity to discuss it. I would never turn up my nose at Grey's. As long as the stories are honest and truthful, and Patrick [Dempsey] and I feel there is material for us to be passionate about, it still beats a 9-to-5 job any day. If I hear from the fans that they want us to keep going, then I would continue because we owe them everything."

Would you want Pompeo to stay on Grey´s Anatomy? Could the show survive without her?
