Tom Holland announced as the new Spider-Man
Marvel and Sony have confirmed Tom Holland as the new face of Peter Parker a.k.a. the amazing Spider-Man. The announcement was made after months of rumours surrounding the casting of the new actor that will play the popular superhero.
According to the announcement, the new film will be directed by Jon Watts and arrive in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017.
The statement reads:
"Marvel and Sony Pictures, and producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal conducted an extensive search for both the actor and the director. The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in "The Impossible," “Wolf Hall,” and the upcoming "In the Heart of the Sea," and by a series of complex screen tests."

Spider-Man Movie Title Revealed
Columbia Pictures has officially revealed the title of the Spider-man reboot directed by Marc Webb: The Amazing Spider-Man.
The movie title does not come as a surprise to veteran fans of the superhero, considering it was the same name Marvel gave to the first comic book series based on the character back in 1963.
Sony has also released the first picture of Andrew Garfield with the complete costume (mask included) on. The Amazing Spider-man is being shot entirely in 3D and will be released on July 3, 2012.

Tobey Maguire Approves New Spider-Man Costume
Tobey Maguire was recently at the Sundance Film Festival where he was promoting his dark comedy, The Details, and he gave his insight on the new Spider-Man costume.
Click on the video above to watch what the 35-year old had to say! Is it a bad sign that I´d still rather watch Spider-Man 4 with Maguire than this new reboot? Oh well.

Andrew Garfield: 'Tobey Maguire gave his blessing on new Spider-Man'
Andrew Garfield recently revealed that he received a message of support from Tobey Maguire regarding his participation in the new reboot of Spider-Man.
Garfield told BBC News: "[Tobey] sent me a lovely message through a mutual friend. He gave me his support, and it meant a great deal, of course, because part of the reason I love and have continued to love this character was because of his portrayal. To step into those shoes is no mean feat."
Garfield added: "It was generous of him to reach out and say something, so I'm thankful."
Maguire, who played Spider-Man for three movies, is the second castmember of the original franchise to support the new project, after Kirsten Dunst did the same when asked about the reboot a month ago.

On a personal note, I still can't stand behind this reboot but it was really thoughtful from Tobey to have that kind of gesture towards Garfield.
What do you say? Are you willing to give the new Spider-Man a chance?

Kirsten Dunst speaks about Spider-man reboot
Kirsten Dunst has recently admitted to Screen Junkies that she absolutely supports the new Spider-man reboot project and that she was happy with the way things ended regarding the original trilogy she starred in.
"I felt like what we had during those films was so special, like me and Tobey and Sam," she said. "It was such a unique experience and also because it was these independent minds and actors and you're making this huge film."
"It's great that all these kids are such huge fans and to be a part of a movie like that is very special, especially a good franchise. So to end on Spider-Man 3 I think is the perfect way to leave it."
As far as the new franchise goes, Dunst is supportive of the new cast and is happy to pass over the torch to them: "I like Andrew Garfield so much as an actor - and Emma Stone - so I think they'll be great in the new version."
The actress also shared her thoughts on why Sony decided to reboot the whole franchise with a new cast instead of going for "Spider-man 4" stating that "sometimes they always want to push things for money reasons or whatever and it just didn't come together the way they probably had wanted or envisioned."
When asked if she will be checking out the currently untitled Spider-man reboot, Dunst responded she absolutely will."Of course I'm going to see the movie! she said. "Of course."
It really doesn't come as a surprise that Dunst is a complete sweetheart as usual, but even if she's giving her blessing to the new film, I personally still believe that the new reboot is pointless. They should have continued with a four installment and develop more the characters instead of starting again from scratch.
