"The Walking Dead" Spin-off title is announced

For some time it has been announced that AMC will air a spin-off series for The Walking Dead and now thanks to creator Robert Kirkman we have a confirmed title. Kirkman announced on Twitter that the show will be called Fear the Walking Dead and it is set for a summer debut. Kirkman tweet reads as follows:

"IT'S OFFICIAL! The walking dead companion show on AMC is called FEAR THE WALKING DEAD! Expect more news very soon! #FearTheWalkingDead "


The series will consist of a first season of six episodes and a second season already scheduled for 2016. Little details are known at this time about the show other than it will take place in Los Angeles and stars Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam.

"The Walking Dead" Season 4 Comic Con Trailer

Yes, we know many of you fans out there are impatient for the premiere of season 4 of "The Walking Dead". Thankfully for us, the first promo for the new batch of episodes has been premiered on this years San Diego Comic Con and it looks quite promising.

 Andrew Lincoln explained what we can expect for his character, Rick,  this year: "The relationship with Carl is integral to the beginning of the season from Rick. (Carl) turning into a sociopath at the end of the season woke him up to his parenting duties. You find Rick in a completely different place this season." 

"The death of Andrea (Laurie Holden), combined with what happened with Carl was the catalyst to bring him to that point. The brutality of pushing people away in season three wasn't working for him and was cataclysmic for his family. When we meet them all in season four, there is a whole new community in the prison and friction between certain characters. it makes for incredible character-driven scenes." 

 The season premiere of "The Walking Dead" will take place on Sunday, Oct. 13, with the second half of the season to be broadcasted in February.

"The Walking Dead" Season 3 Comic-Con Trailer

 The Walking Dead´s panel at San Diego´s Comic-Con convention was fully packed and one of the stellar moments of the evening was when a brand new trailer for the upcoming third season of the series was shown.

 As fans of the comic book already know, this year the prison will serve as the main setting for most of the characters on the show.

'Walking Dead' Showrunners Talk New Episodes

 The Walking Dead is about to return with brand new episodes and producers Glenn Mazzara and Robert Kirkman teased what we can expect for the rest of the second season.

Mazzara spoke to Collider about the upcoming storylines:

"After the finale, finding Sophia in the barn is just a huge event that rocks our characters and changes everything on the farm. So, I think the stakes are much higher and people are dealing with a lot more."

He also promises a more accelerated second half of the season as far as the stories go, and defended the show after fans criticized the latest episodes as being too slow:

"I don't know if we'd say that we regret any of the episodes that we did. I'm proud of those episodes and, if some people feel that some of those episodes were slower than others, I could argue that we were spending time with our characters."

Kirkman on the other hand added:

"We recognise this criticism, and it is valid, but we are working on a 13-piece puzzle that, as a whole, should be seen in a different light. We're hoping that, when it's all put together, people will see that it all came together in a good way."

Mazzara firmly believes that The Walking Dead is a "difficult show to write". He explains:

"People have expectations about the show. If we have a zombie attack every week, people say it's the zombie-of-the-week. And, if we don't have zombies, people say there are no zombies. So, it's a challenging situation.

[But] I think people will be satisfied, by the end of this run. You learn how to do a show, as you're writing it. The story material reveals itself, so if there's a way to break down that criticism and look at it moving forward, that's valid."

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 12.

"The Walking Dead" Stars Reveal Season Two Details

 The Walking Dead stars, Laurie Holden and Jon Bernthal, attended a panel regarding their show at Chicago´s C2E2 and offered plenty of interesting inside info regarding season two.

 The pair not only confirmed the fact that the new season will be thirteen episodes long but also spoke about what´s in store for their characters, adressed rumours,  and confirmed Stephen King´s possible involvement on a future episode.

New Zombie Drama For The CW

 The CW is currently developing a new drama series that deals with the popular theme of a zombie apocalypse.

 According to TV Guide, the network is working on producing Awakening, a script written by William Laurin and Glenn Davis, which follows two rival sisters as they struggle to survive in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.

The CW is not the only network trying to cash in on the zombie fever, as NBC has bought the rights to produce a pilot based on the script Zombies Vs. Vampires.

 After the amazing success of AMC´s The Walking Dead, television networks have realized how zombies are the new vampires as far as ratings go, and the CW and NBC are no exceptions.

'Walking Dead' May Return in July

 Actor Bryan Cranston recently spoke to New York Magazine and stated how AMC is aiming for a summer return of two of its most popular shows, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.

 The summer premiere for new seasons of the hit shows may have something to do with avoiding heavy competition from other networks and attracting new viewership.

 "It was a decision from AMC that they wanted to position us in July... They want to attract as many eyeballs as possible, away from the heavy competition of the September, November [or] January start. I believe they're going to put Walking Dead in July as well."

 Just recently, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has hinted that more characters from the original Comic-Book such as Michonne - a mysterious ex-lawyer who fights off the undead with a samurai sword -will likely make an appearance in  future episodes of the show.

 "[Showrunner] Frank [Darabont] has already hinted at the fact we'll be seeing Michonne as early as season two," he said.

So there you have it! Maybe the wait won't be as long as expected for you zombie fans out there after all.

'The Walking Dead' season finale breaks records in viewership

 Last night's season finale of AMC's The Walking Dead continued its ratings success, when over 6 million people tuned in to watch, making it the most watched episode of the series. Not only that but, according to Nielsen Media Research, the zombie series based on Robert Kirkman’s graphic novels, has now become  the most watched drama series in basic cable history in viewers aged 18 to 49. That is a really big accomplishment, taking into account that the show is just getting started and its first season has only consisted on six episodes. Too bad fans of the show will have to wait an entire year for the series to return with a second season!

Laurie Holden discusses 'Walking Dead' renewal

 It was recently announced by AMC, that their hit series The Walking Dead was being renewed for a second season and will return for a 13-episode run, expected to air in October 2011.

 This left wondering many fans of the show, why did they have to wait so long to see the series return. Actress Laurie Holden discussed with Collider the extended break between seasons: "I wish that we were shooting sooner, but it's just the way that it is. It's just the reality. They've got to pen 13 scripts and get the production up and rolling, and that just takes time. I'm hoping that people love our show enough that they'll be patient, and it will be okay that we're not going to be back for another year."

 Holden also pointed out that this is not the first time a situation like this has happened: "I think this [sort of break] is common for a lot of shows. Lost went off the air for a while. Mad Men goes off the air for awhile. Maybe it's not too out of the norm."

 The actress also admitted how she was unsurprised that the show got picked so soon for a second season:
"The ratings were quite spectacular," Holden said. "I think that just based on the numbers alone, AMC was like, 'Okay, let’s run with it'."

 The six-part first season of The Walking Dead concludes on December 5 in the US.

The Walking Dead graces the cover of EW

 The AMC hit series, The Walking Dead, becomes more and more successful with every passing every week and now it graces the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly which calls it "The Best New Show on TV". 

 Actor Andrew Lincoln talks about how he landed the role: “[After auditioning] I got an e-mail outlining the project … It said The Walking Dead. Terrific title … and then it said ‘Zombie survival horror.’ I think I actually did a literal double take. I was like, ‘Really?!’ I was a bit reticent. It was only the next day, when they sent me this top secret script, that it really dawned on me what the show had a chance to do, and I got very excited."

"The Walking Dead" debuts to huge ratings

  The anticipation for this new TV series was huge and, as expected, the ratings have been stellar. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pilot episode for "The Walking Dead" aired in the US on Halloween attracted 5.3 million viewers making it the show the most watched programme in the channel's history. Not only that but it is also the largest audience of any cable network debut this year.
