After a second season full of irregularities and a lack of continuity, Ryan Murphy promised Glee would get back to basics on season 3 and fortunately... he has delivered.
Last week´s episode was a solid start and cleaned up the house after the big mess that was last year storywise. This week, on the other hand, it was like season one Glee all over again (and that is a good thing!).
Idina Menzel has returned to the show and her scenes with Lea Michele were absolutely amazing. Their rendition of Somewhere was astonishing! Idina´s character also stirred up things for Puck and Quinn which made their characters interact with each other once again which is something we really missed.
The music was great as all the songs featured in the episode were Broadway classics (bonus points for that!) and were also integrated within the storylines of each character.
Characters who have great chemistry were interacting with each other (Rachel & Finn, Kurt/Burt, Britanny & Santana, Kurt & Burt) which brought up the best of them adding quality acting to the episode.
To sum up:
The Best: Idina Menzel´s return as Shelby and Kurt auditioning for the lead of the school musical.
The Worst: Quinn and her constantly annoying ways. Plus, even though he´s a loveable character, the two first episodes of the season have revolved quite a lot around Kurt. It´s time to let other characters shine as well.
Quote to Remember: "When a pony does a good deed, he gets a horn and he becomes a unicorn. And then he poops out cotton candy until he forgets he's magical. And then his horn falls off. And black unicorns, they become zebras."—Brittany
Best Musical Number: We were going to go with Idina & Lea´s rendition of "Somewhere" but then Darren Criss performed and stole the show once again with a brilliant cover of "Something's Coming."
The moment: Burt telling his son Kurt to change the rules and rewrite his own history.
