Joss Whedon Talks "Avengers" Sequel & "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV Show

Just recently ABC announced that not only was Joss Whedon back as a writer and director for the sequel to The Avengers (set for release May of 2015) but that the mastermind behind such cult TV hits as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly was going to be involved on a new TV show as well.

Even though Whedon won´t helm the project (he´s too busy for that), he will at least be a consultant and will direct whenever he´s available.

“The S.H.I.E.L.D. show kind of dropped in my lap, and I love working in TV. I get to really build a show with people I really trust and love. What we’re building is entirely autonomous from The Avengers.

It’s gotta be a show that works for people who haven’t seen the Marvel movies. It will please Marvel fans, I think.” he told EW.

Whedon also took the time to comment on the anticipated Avengers sequel:

“The Avengers sequel, I’m pretty on fire with that. We’re slated to come out May of 2015. Last time [with The Avengers] we started shooting in April, which was pretty hilarious. I wanted to murder people, they wanted to murder me.”

As if Whedon wasn´t busy as it is, reports appeared this week that the long-awaited follow-up to the 2008 made-for-Internet hit "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" is still in the works.

Are you excited for all the upcoming Whedon projects?

First Watch: Triumphant (Get ´Em) - Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey has released the music video for her single, Triumphant, which has so far done very poorly on the charts.

Unfortunately, the music video is more of the same old Mariah photoshoot-type videos where she poses for the camera as the featured rappers take centre stage.

We love Mariah but we can´t help to think that she´s not trying hard enough with this track and needs to release a powerful second single as soon as possible.

Director Tony Scott Dies

Another sad day in Hollywood as director Tony Scott died at age 68 on Sunday after jumping from a suspension bridge into Los Angeles Harbor.

The death has been confirmed by his publicist and even though no more details have been released for the moment, it is being investigated as a suicide.

Tony Scott was a popular director and producer in Hollywood as well as the brother of acclaimed director Ridley Scott, having directed films such as Top Gun, Days of Thunder, or Beverly Hills Cop 2. His production credits include The Good Wife, and his brother´s recent Prometheus.

It was rumoured for a while now that Tony was exploring the possibility of directing a sequel to his blockbuster hit Top Gun with Tom Cruise.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this grieving moment. Rest in peace.

Tune of the Week: Wildest Moments - Jessie Ware

Our latest Tune of the Week comes from a rising London singer called Jessie Ware whose debut album, Devotion, will be out on August 20 via PMR Records.

Ware has been a backup singer for many years before embarking on a solo project that will showcase her many talents.

Wildest Moments is a  perfect midtempo ballad where she sings with confidence along the bell-like synths and piano chords.

Here at Radio Pop Action! we are really rooting for this track and for Jessie Ware to become a household name in the near future.

Joss Whedon Returns for "Avengers 2"

After The Avengers became the blockbuster hit of the year and the third most successful movie ever, it was only a matter of time that Disney would want to ink a deal for a sequel and secure the man behind the magic, director Joss Whedon.

Now it has been confirmed that not only Joss Whedon will write and direct the follow-up, but that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator will return to his television roots to develop a Marvel-themed series for ABC.

Marvel Studios issued a statement to confirm the news:

"Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel's The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel's cinematic universe."

No details yet on what the TV show will be about but taking into account Whedon´s Television credits, we can´t hardly contain our excitement.

First Listen: Triumphant (Get Em) - Mariah Carey

It´s been a while since Mariah Carey has released new music. Triumphant is her brand new single from her upcoming new studio album.

The track features Rick Ross and Meek Mill and will be available to download at iTunes next Tuesday, August 7th.

As far as the song goes, it feels like a letdown after almost three years of silence. Instead of getting back to her pop roots or experimenting with a new sound, Mariah seems to be stuck with her old RnB production.

Moreover,  she seems like a guest in her own song instead of the main artist. Lets hope she releases something more powerful before the album comes out.

In the meantime, click below to listen!

What do you guys think of  Triumphant?

UPDATE: Seems that Mariah and her team have realized that in order to reach most of her fanbase the single needed a change so the diva has issued a dance remix that not only is rapper free but features some brand new vocals.

The result is so much better than the original song. This should be the track released to radio!
