MGM Plans 'Child's Play' Remake

Remember Chucky, the diabolical doll? It seems that not even him can escape Hollywood´s trend of remaking movies these days.

According to Movie Web, a remake for the film was announced years ago but had to be put to rest due to a rights issue.

However, the project has ressurected by MGM and the new version of the horror film is expected to be released on December 2011.

Filming is expected to begin later this year based on a script written by original Child´s Play writer Don Mancini, who wrote all of the following original sequels as well.

Actor Brad Dourif is also set to return to voice the Chucky doll.

Even though here at Radio Pop Action! we are usually not too keen on reboots or remakes, we believe that with both the original writers and Dourif involved, this might be a good horror movie if it resembles the original film rather than the terrible sequels it spawned later on.

 What do you guys think?

  1. I think this movie can be really good if planned with caution.
I remember when the first movie was released, that children loved to play with dolls.
Well, many years have passed and I don't see peolple playing with dolls. It seems that technologics have replaced that kind of toys.
I road somewhere that chucky is going to have a new look. Is very easy to create a horror movie, but for the new Child's Play, I believe the new dolls's look is going to very important.

  2. My kids play with dolls and they love the older dolls from the 60's-80's especially. I don't think it should be a remake but another sequel some thing to do with glen and Glenda.
