Multiple sources are confirming that Desperate Housewives will end its successful run next year when Season 8 wraps.
According to TVLine, this news came as a surprise both to fans and stars of the show who are said to be "shocked and saddened" by the upcoming end of the series.
An official anouncement from ABC is expected next Sunday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
In the meantime, some stars of the show such as Vanessa Williams or Marcia Cross have taken their Twitter accounts to speak directly to the fans.
Vanessa Williams went as far as confirming the news when she tweeted:
"Yes, D-H fans. The rumors are true. This is the final season of a landmark show. So proud to be a part of it. Be sure to watch come fall. :( "
On the other hand former star Dana Delany (who left the show last year and currently stars as the lead on Body of Proof) has stated how much she would love to come back one last time to wrap up her storyline.
Delany told Parade:
"I would love that. I would really love to go back for the final season for a little visit as Katherine because I'd like to resolve her storyline. I would like to know that she and her girlfriend Robin were living happily ever after. It would be nice if they ended up together or she at least found some happiness in her life."
What do you guys think? Will you miss Desperate Housewives?
