New details about "Superman" reboot

It was announced earlier this week that the director for the new "Superman" movie produced by Christopher Nolan will be Zack Snyder ("Watchmen" , "300") and now he has spoken to MTV news about the project. "All I'll say is that those guys, Chris and David [Goyer], have created an amazing story," Snyder said. "The 'Why [remake] Superman?' is definitely being looked at with care, that's all I could hope for as a director."

Snyder was chosen for the project from a shortlist of filmmakers that included Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler), Duncan Jones (Moon), Ben Affleck (The Town) and Matt Reeves (Cloverfield).

Apparently, Snyder is a fan of the comic book superhero: "It's early yet, but I can tell you that what David  and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I've always felt he was kind of awesome."

No word yet on who will play the Man of Steele but here's hoping they cast an unknown for the role. I certainly wouldn't mind if Brandon Routh came back for this, he hasn't done much since that movie came out and he was believable as Superman.

Who would you cast for the role? Let me know in the comments!

  1. ha ha, we had the same idea today, I did this post too. I like the fact that Snyder is helming it, even if I hated his version of Watchmen, lets just hope it goes right this time.

  2. Yeah, we totally think alike! :) I didn't get to see "Watchmen" but let's just hope they know what they are doing with the franchise, although it is very difficult to surpass what Richard Donner did with Christopher Reeve in the original movie.
