Cobie Smulders Is In For 'Avengers'

Just recently we told you about a female role that was being cast this weekend for the anticipated Avengers movie. According to Deadline, Cobie Smulders has finally been chosen to play the role of SHIELD Agent Maria Hill in the Joss Whedon-directed movie.

Smulders was chosen over fellow actresses Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas and Mary Elizabeth Winstead for the part. In the comics, Maria Hill was the ruthless interim executive director of SHIELD, who blackmailed and bullied superheroes just to get what she wants.

For Smulders getting this part is a big deal, as this role has the option of appearing in future Marvel releases for the big screen. This is not the first time Whedon laid eyes on her, as she was presumably one of his favourite candidates for Wonder Woman back when he was helming that project.

Do you believe Cobie Smulders is a good casting choice? Will Joss Whedon cast someone else for the character of the Wasp?
