First Look: Meryl Streep as The Iron Lady

The first image of Meryl Streep characterized as Margaret Thatcher has been unveiled, and it does not dissapoint. Streep will play her in the upcoming feature film, The Iron Lady, which began shooting at the end of January.

Taking into account that the likeness between Streep and Thatcher in the picture is undeniable, and that we are dealing with one of the best actresses of all time, it is safe to say that playing this role will inevitable add many awards to her already extensive record.

Streep has described her experience with this new role:

“The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge. I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses – I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!”

The film, which also stars Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Richard E. Grant (Pret-a-porter), will be released sometime at the end of the year. Are you looking forward to it?
