Hans Zimmer will provide the score for 'Superman'

The Superman reboot is starting to become a reality and the latest development involves its music. According to Thompson on Hollywood, popular composer Hans Zimmer will be the responsible for scoring the film. At this point in time very little information has been revealed, although it has been confirmed that Zimmer will not attempt to reproduce the iconic Superman theme that John Williams composed for the original back in the late 70's.

Zimmer will begin to work on the project once he is finished completing the scores for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Sherlock Holmes 2 and Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom Of Doom.

I'm really glad that they have chosen Zimmer for the job, his work for films such as The Dark Knight or Inception was magnificent, but i'm not really sure that they should avoid reproducing  the classic Superman theme by John Williams. You don't mess with iconic symbols like that (think of Indiana Jones or Star Wars without their main themes, for instance).

What do you think? Are you happy with Zimmer trying out for something new? Let me know in the comments!
