According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Baz Luhrman (Moulin Rouge, Australia) is considering the idea of making a 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby with a cast of stars including Leonardo Dicaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan. Nothing is set in stone yet, but the director has apparently already workshopped with the format.
Recently, the director visited Las Vegas alongside Michael Mann and Oliver Stone for a panel discussion on the advantages of Blu-ray. Stone himself has been outspoken about the 3D format stating that you “shouldn´t shoot a 3D movie unless you can afford it, otherwise you are putting yourself under enormous pressure.”
The idea of having a revolutionary director like Luhrman playing with 3D couldn´t be more attractive but, is this movie the appropiate project to do so? Sound off in the comments!
